Jan. 11, 2013
RENO, Nev. -
The University of Nevada women's basketball team (6-8, 1-0 MW) will face its first Mountain West road test Saturday afternoon, as the team will take on the Wyoming Cowgirls (11-3,0-1 MW) in Laramie, Wyo. Tip-off is slated for 1:00 p.m. PT at the Wyoming Arena Auditorium.
"Wyoming is an extremely talented team who will be hungry for a win at home after losing a close conference opener on the road," head coach Jane Albright said. "They have a player of the year candidate in Sewell who averages a double-double. It will be a tough challenge for us, but I feel that we are improving each game and will be ready to compete on Saturday."
The last time the two schools faced each other was during the 2009-10 season in the first round of the WNIT. Wyoming defeated Nevada 74-53 in Laramie. The Wolf Pack trails the overall series 4-8. The Cowgirls opened Mountain West play Wednesday night with a close 70-68 loss on the road at Boise State. Wyoming is led by senior Chaundra Sewell's 14.8 ppg and 10.1 rpg. Sewell leads the MW in rebounding and field goal percentage.
