Cowgirl Basketball To Host Second Place Rams On Saturday

The Wyoming basketball team looks to even up the season series against the second place Colorado State Rams, on Saturday, February 18. The game is set for 2:00 p.m. in the Arena Auditorium. Live stats can be followed or audio can be found on www.wyomingathletics.com.

Wyoming is currently 10-13 overall and 6-4 in Mountain West play after a 13-point win, 71-58, over Air Force on Wednesday. The Cowgirls are led by Chaundra Sewell who is averaging a team high 13.2 points and 8.7 rebounds. Freshman Kayla Woodward follows with 12.3 points and 5.7 rebounds, while junior Ashley Sickles is adding 12.0 points plus 6.3 rebounds per game. As a team, they are shooting 484-1211 (.400) from the field and 109-386 (.282) from beyond the arc.

Sickles currently ranks sixth in minutes played, eighth in blocked shots, ninth in rebounding and 13th in scoring. Sewell is among the Top 15 in points, rebounds, assists, blocked shots and field goal percentage. In league games, Woodward is second in scoring, third in free throw percentage, field goal percentage and three-point field goal percentage, fourth in rebounding, sixth in minutes played, eighth in steals and three point field goals made and 11th in assists. She has also recorded double-figures in nine of ten games during conference action as well.

The Rams enter the weekend with a 12-13 record and an 8-2 mark in MW play. Kim Mestdagh is averaging a team high 15.6 points along with 5.1 rebounds. Sam Martin is also adding 13.0 points, while Meghan Heimstra leads the way with 6.0 rebounds. They return three starters and five letterwinners to a team that went 14-16 overall and 7-9 in the Mountain West a year ago.

This is the 86th meeting between the two teams. Wyoming leads the series 43-42. The last time the two teams met was January 21, 2012 as the Rams defeated the Cowgirls 62-58 in Ft. Collins. CSU is coached by Kristen Holt who is in her fourth season with the program.
