Road Week For Lady Rebels

Feb. 21, 2012

With the race heating up for second place in the Mountain West, the UNLV women's basketball team faces a key stretch this week with two straight road games, beginning with Wednesday’s contest at Boise State, tip time at 6 pm (PST) at Taco Bell Arena. That will be followed by a Saturday afternoon game at Air Force. UNLV will come into the matchup with Boise State alone in third place, and just one game behind Colorado State.

UNLV is looking to record a third consecutive sweep of a conference opponent, after successfully completing sweeps over TCU and New Mexico. The Lady Rebels won the first meeting against the Broncos by a 66-50 score in Las Vegas, and that was without the services of senior forward Lenita Sanford, the current MW Player of the Week.

A win on Wednesday would also give the Lady Rebels the 18th 20-win season in school history, but only the third in the last 20 years. UNLV won 23 games in 2001-02, and 26 games in the 2003-04 campaign. Senior forward Jamie Smith will also set a new UNLV record for most career starts with 120 with a start on Wednesday against the Broncos.
