Cowgirl Basketball Looks To Get Back On Winning Track Against UNLV

The Wyoming women's basketball team will close out the week on the road as they will face the UNLV Lady Rebels. The game is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 23 at 4:00 p.m. Mountain Time in Las Vegas. Live stats and audio can be found at www.gowyo.com.
The Cowgirls are currently 19-6 overall and 8-4 in MW play after suffering a 57-51 loss on Wednesday night against San Diego State. Four of five starters are averaging double-figures led by Chaundra Sewell. She is averaging 15.2 points and a league leading 9.5 rebounds. Kayla Woodward follows closely with 14.0 points and 6.1 rebounds while Kaitlyn Mileto is adding 12.5 points. Senior Ashley Sickles is chipping in 10.8 points and 5.6 boards as well.
Wyoming is first in the league in scoring offense (70.8 ppg), rebounding margin (+7.6) and assists (15.8 aspg). They are also shooting 637-1415 (.450) from the field and 157-419 (.375) from beyond the arc. Both rank first in the league. In Mountain West games, they are first in scoring offense, assists and field goal percentage, second in free throw percentage and rebounding margin.
UNLV enters the contest with a 10-16 overall record and 6-6 in the MW. Last time out, the Lady Rebels lost to Colorado State on Wednesday night, 60-44, in Ft. Collins. They are led by Kelli Thompson who is averaging 18.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Danielle Miller follows with 10.5 points and 3.8 boards. They return two starters and seven letterwinners to a team that went 22-10 overall and 10-4 in the MW a year ago.
This will be the 38th meeting between the two schools. UNLV leads the series 20-17. The last time the two teams met was January 23, 2013 as the Cowgirls defeated the Lady Rebels, 76-54, in Laramie. UNLV is coached by Kathy Olivier who is in her fifth season.
