Crawford's Career Comes To An End
Feb. 29, 2012
FORT WORTH, Texas – TCU women’s basketball head coach Jeff Mittie announced on Wednesday that junior forward Starr Crawford, who has missed the entire 2011-12 season, has seen her career come to an end due to an injury suffered during preseason.
“I am saddened for Starr as she has been a key part of our team's success,” said Mittie. “The good news is that she will still be a part of our program and be able to finish her degree at TCU.”
Crawford was a second team all-conference selection in 2010-11. She was the top returning rebounder in the league during her sophomore campaign at 9.7 per game, ranking 36th in the nation. The Arlington native, who posted eight double-doubles a year ago, was the only player to average double-digits in points (12.7) and rebounds (10.0) per game last season in the Mountain West and was TCU's leading scorer returning this season after averaging 12.0 points per game.
The Horned Frogs will open the 2012 Conoco Mountain West Basketball Championships on Wednesday, March 7 against Wyoming. Tip-off is set for 4:30 p.m. CT and will be shown live on The Mtn.
