San Diego State Clinches a Share of 2012-13 title ... San Diego State (13-1) earned a share of the 2012-13 Mountain West regular season title on Feb. 27 with a 72-44 win over New Mexico. The Aztecs can win the title outright on March 6 with a win over Air Force in Colorado Springs ... Fresno State (12-3) and Wyoming (11-4) are sitting in second and third place with one game each this week. Should a tie occur, the tiebreaker between the two teams goes to the Bulldogs based on a split with SDSU ... The four through nine seeds are still up for grabs with two games left for each of those teams - UNLV (7-7), New Mexico (6-8), Colorado State (6-8), Boise State (4-10), Air Force (3-11) and Nevada (2-12).
Quick Hits ... Air Force senior Dymond James became the latest Falcon to reach 1,000 points in her career, hitting the mark on Feb. 27 at Wyoming. The fifth DI Falcon to reach the milestone now has 1,011 career points ... Boise State sophomore Brandi Henton had a week of setting career marks. On Feb. 27, she recorded a career-high six assists and followed that with a career-high 29 points on March 2 ... Colorado State senior Meghan Heimstra scored a career-high 25 points against Boise State on March 2 at Moby Arena ... Fresno State seniors Jeanna Furst and Rosie Moult picked up the 100th victory of their careers on March 2 at Air Force. They are 100-29 in their fourth season at FS. Moult grabbed a career-high seven steals in the game ... Wednesday, March 6 marks the first time that Nevada will face New Mexico in Albuquerque. It is just the third meeting between the two programs ... New Mexico senior Caroline Durbin needs just 30 points to become the 17th Lobo to score 1,000 career points ... San Diego State has outscored opponents by an average margin of +19.0 during its current 13-game winning streak. The 13-game win streak is tied for second-longest in SDSU history, matching streaks set in 2011-12 and 1993-94 ... UNLV senior Kelli Thompson posted 14 points and four assists on her Senior Day, March 2 against Nevada ... Wyoming wrapped up its home regular season schedule with a 13-1 record at Arena-Auditorium. The Cowgirls wrap up the regular season on Wednesday, March 6, at Colorado State. Game time in Fort Collins was moved up to 6 p.m.
Hopkins Added to Wade Watch List ... San Diego State senior Chelsea Hopkins was added to the State Farm Wade Watch list on Feb. 4. Hopkins leads the nation with three triple-doubles this season and is averaging 13.8 points, 7.8 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game. The State Farm Wade Trophy is presented to the nation's most outstanding NCAA Division I women's basketball player each year.
Durbin & Sewell Named Capital One Academic All-Americans ... New Mexico senior Caroline Durbin (4.18 grade point average, Business) and Wyoming senior Chaundra Sewell (3.85 gpa, Pre-pharmacy) were recently named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-America Teams. Durbin was named to the Second Team, the second consecutive season to receive the national honor. Sewell was placed on the Third Team.
