#12 SDSU Opens NCAAs With Host, #5 LSU On Sunday

The San Diego State women's basketball team earned its third NCAA tournament bid in the last four years and the ninth in program history as the No. 12 seed Aztecs take on the No. 5 seed LSU Lady Tigers in the first round on Sunday, March 18. The game will be played in Baton Rouge, La., at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, beginning at approximately 6:45 p.m. CT (4:45 p.m. PT).

-SDSU Head Coach Beth Burns: Burns (Ohio Wesleyan, 1979) is in the seventh year of her second stint as at San Diego State. She led the Aztecs for eight seasons from 1989 to 1997, before returning in 2005. She has an overall head coaching record of 349-243 in 20 seasons, while she is 268-178 in her 15 campaigns at SDSU.
-LSU Head Coach Nikki Caldwell: Caldwell (Tennessee, 1994) is in her first year at LSU and her fourth as a head coach. Her current school record is 22-10 and her overall mark of 94-36 includes three seasons at UCLA.
-Series History: This is the first all-time meeting between SDSU and LSU. The Aztecs are 3-2 vs. current members of the SEC, but are 0-1 against SEC squads in the NCAA tournament, falling at Georgia in 1993.
