#AztecWBB, Fresno State to Clash for MW Title Saturday

LAS VEGAS - The San Diego State women's basketball team will play in the championship game of the Mountain West tournament for the fifth time in six years on Saturday, when the top-seeded Aztecs square off against No. 2 seed Fresno State at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nev. The game will be aired live on CBS Sports Network beginning at 7 p.m. PT.
The Aztecs punched their ticket to the finals with a resounding 67-39 conquest of New Mexico on Friday to extend their winning streak to 17 games. Meanwhile, Fresno State advanced in its bracket with a thrilling 63-62 victory over Wyoming in the the other semifinal matchup. A win on Saturday would give the Scarlet and Black an automatic berth in the NCAA tournament to go with a program-best 27 victories in a single season.
With its win over the Lobos, SDSU moved to 5-0 all-time in MW semifinal games. The Aztecs will be looking to claim their second straight league tournament crown and third in the last four seasons. SDSU emerged triumphant in the finals against New Mexico by a 57-43 count a year ago and was victorious over Utah in overtime, 70-60, in 2010.
SDSU is receiving votes in both the AP rankings and USA Today coaches poll. The Aztecs have appeared in the coaches poll for six straight weeks and have cracked the last five AP polls.

-SDSU Head Coach Beth Burns: Burns (Ohio Wesleyan, 1979) is in the eighth year of her second stint as head coach at San Diego State. She led the Aztecs for eight seasons from 1989 to 1997, before returning in 2005. She has an overall head coaching record of 375-249 in 21 seasons, and she is 294-184 in her 16 campaigns at SDSU.
-Fresno State Head Coach Raegan Pebley: Pebley (Colorado, 1997) is in her first season at the helm of the Bulldogs after a nine-year stint as head coach at Utah State where she compiled a record of 110-155. Pebley also played two seasons in the WNBA for the Utah Starzz and the Cleveland Rockers.
-Series History: The Aztecs lead the all-time series 24-11 after the teams split their two meetings during the regular season, as each side won on the other's home court.
