COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West will send three women's basketball teams to national postseason tournaments. Fresno State will move on to the NCAA Tournament with the league's automatic bid, while San Diego State and Wyoming are headed to the Women's National Invitation Tournament.

This year marks the 14th consecutive season in which the Mountain West has sent multiple teams to the postseason. It is the eleventh consecutive year, and 13th overall, that the MW will have a representative in the WNIT.

NCAA Tournament
Fresno State (24-8) earned the Mountain West automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Women's Basketball Championship Tournament with a 76-70 win over San Diego State on Saturday, March 16 to win the championship game. It will be the first time Fresno State has represented the league in the NCAA postseason event. The Bulldogs, the No. 15 seed in the Spokane Region, will face No. 2 seed California (28-3) in the first round at the United Spirit Arena in Lubbock, Texas. Fresno State is making its sixth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament (2008-09-10-11-12-13). The Bulldogs are 0-5 overall in the NCAA Tournament.

The Bulldogs will play the opening First Round game on Saturday, March 23 at 3:20 p.m. CT. Host Texas Tech (21-10), the No. 7 seed, will face South Florida 30 minutes after the FS-Cal game. Both first round games will be televised on ESPN2. The game time and television channel for Monday's second round matchup between the winners of Saturday's games has yet to be announced. All NCAA women's basketball tournament games will be available on ESPN3.

Women's National Invitational Tournament
San Diego State (26-6), the MW regular season champion, earned an automatic bid to the 2013 Women's NIT. The Aztecs are making their second appearance in the WNIT. SDSU's only other appearance in the WNIT was in 1989. The 1988-89 Aztecs squad advanced to the WNIT quarterfinals, losing to Oregon, 67-64.

The Aztecs will play UC Santa Barbara (16-16) on Wednesday, March 21 at Viejas Arena in San Diego, Calif. The winner will advance to play the winner of BYU/Idaho State in the Second Round.

Wyoming (24-7) received an at-large bid to the 2013 Women's NIT. The Cowgirls are making their sixth appearance in the WNIT as a Mountain West member and seventh overall. It is the third appearance in four years for Wyoming in the WNIT. Wyoming won the WNIT in 2006-07.

The Cowgirls will play Northern Colorado (20-12) on Thursday, March 21 at Arena-Auditorium in Laramie, Wyo. The game will be carried live on GoWYO.com. The winner will advance to play the winner of St. Mary's/Seattle in the Second Round.
