SAN DIEGO - n The San Diego State women's basketball team will be making its fourth postseason appearance in the last five years and the 12th in program history, as the Aztecs square off against UC Santa Barbara on Wednesday in the first round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT). Opening tip is slated for 7 p.m. PT at Viejas Arena.

A win over the Gauchos would give the Aztecs a program-record 27 victories in a single season. SDSU's 26 wins thus far matches the school record set by the 1993-94 squad.

The winner of Wednesday's clash will meet the victor of the Idaho State-Brigham Young contest in the second round, with the date, location and time to be determined.

The Aztecs are making their second appearance in the WNIT, having reached the championship game back in 1989. SDSU defeated Radford (99-92) and Murray State (97-81) in its opening-round matchups before falling to Oregon (67-64) in the finals.

Chelsea Hopkins and Courtney Clements were named to the WBCA All-Region VII Team on Tuesday. With the recognition, the two SDSU guards are among an exclusive list of 52 candidates who will be considered for the WBCA All-America Team to be revealed on April 6, in New Orleans, La.
