FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State added another transfer student-athlete to its growing roster Tuesday in Victoria Wells. Head Coach Ryun Williams made the announcement.

Wells will join CSU for her junior season after playing for Trinity Valley Community College in 2012-13. She is the fourth junior college transfer on the Rams’ 2013-14 roster.

Wells comes to Colorado State from a storied program in Trinity Valley. As a sophomore, she helped lead the Lady Cardinals to 36-1 season and their second-straight NJCAA title last year. The team’s only loss was a forfeit due to lack of healthy players.

Wells defended the Lady Cardinals opponent’s best players on the way to a national championship. During the tournament she averaged 6.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.0 steals and nearly 2 blocks per game.

“Victoria is an outstanding addition to this recruiting class,” commented Williams. “Not only is she an exceptional athlete, but an outstanding person and student as well.”

While at Marshall, Wells played in all 30 games for the Herd, starting in 21. She led all freshmen in Conference-USA in steals with 1.9 per game, while shooting .397 from the field.

“Victoria is a national champion who understands the sacrifices needed to win,” added Williams. “She will be an immediate impact to our lineup and give us that athletic piece, and will be our most tenacious lockdown defender. Ram fans will love watching this young lady compete. Victoria has a high level motor and a refuse-to-lose mentality that will fit right in with next year’s group.”

A product of Los Angeles, Calif., Wells attended Sierra Canyon High School. She was named Athlete of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year for Trailblazers. She also earned first-team all-CIF Southern Section honors while guiding her team to a CIF Southern Section championship title and league championship title.

The Rams have one more scholarship available for the 2013-14 season.
