Henson Talks About TCU Women's Basketball
June 27, 2012
FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU junior Meagan Henson sat down with GoFrogs.com yesterday to talk about TCU women's basketball and how the team is getting along this summer.
Henson saw significant minutes down the stretch of the 2011-12 season and it paid off as the Oklahoma product was a sparkplug for the Frogs off the bench and should be next year as well. Henson, who played over 20 minutes in three of the last five games in regular-season play, posted breakout games against Air Force and New Mexico, scoring 10 and 13 points, respectively.
"This summer I have enjoyed going home and spending time with family. I am fortunate that I only have a few classes to focus on, so I can be in the gym and practice more on my own.
We are back on campus and almost done with our first summer session. We are currently working on our strength and agility in the weight room. The summer has given each of us a little more time to work on our academics and individual skills. We also just got done working at the TCU basketball camp and had a great time. We are really excited about our new freshmen class. We are glad to gain Caitlin, Kamy, Veja and Zahna. They all have something special to contribute this year.
We are mainly focusing right now on lifting and getting stronger as well as some agility work. We really appreciate Missy Mitchell our strength coach because she helps us become better players through summer training.
I have been working on my shooting and ball handling this summer. I don't exactly feel like an upper classmen because time has gone by so quickly, yet I am thankful that I have been here for two years and have learned a lot along the way. I am looking forward to learning more and improving this year. This summer we are trying to put in more time individually with shooting workouts and also playing more pickup games together as a team."
