Hamilton Earns MVP Honors In All-Star Game

FORT WORTH, Texas - Freshman Veja Hamilton scored 14 points en route to MVP accolades Thursday at Texas Girls Coaches Association All-Star basketball game at Lamar High School.

In all, the Spring native helped her South team defeat the North, 67-50. Hamilton, who also had two steals in the contest, keyed a 10-3 run in the first half that propelled the South to a 14-point lead.

Hamilton, who totaled 2,228 points for her career and was a McDonald's All-American nominee, averaged 20.9 points per game, while shooting 49.5 percent from the field during her senior season. The senior also chipped in with 5.1 boards, 3.0 steals and 2.6 assists. Hamilton, who was ranked as high as the No. 18 overall rated wing in the country according to ESPN/HoopGurlz, was a four-star rated combo guard. During the course of her senior season, she was the 73rd best player in the country and the No. 16 ranked small forward nationally according to Dan Olson Collegiate Girls Report.
