FRESNO, Calif. --- The Save Mart Center at Fresno State is one of the top venues throughout the country and the world. It's most recent award came from Pollstar, which ranked it second in collegiate arenas based off of ticket sales.

Other honors include being ranked 45th in the United States on the Top 200 list of arenas and 87th in the world. Venues Today magazine rated it number 8 as the "Top Stops of the Decade." Those rankings are based on total ticket sales reported for the past decade.

Since the Save Mart Center opened in 2003, gross ticket sales have totaled more than $79 million and the attendance has totaled nearly 1.6 million.

Other than an entertainment venue, Save Mart Center is also the home of the Fresno State men and women's basketball programs and the women's volleyball program.

The arena seats can seat up to 15,596 for basketball. Over the past five seasons, the men's basketball team has consistently ranked in the top three in the state in attendance, routinely drawing more than the Pac-12's UCLA, USC and Stanford. The largest crowd to watch a Fresno State basketball game at the Save Mart Center is 15,451 and there have been 25 crowds of 12,000 or more in the nine seasons since the arena opened.

The women set a school record last season with 7,689 for their final showdown against Louisiana Tech en route to its fifth-straight conference championship.

The Save Mart Center is approximately 450,000 square feet and contains 32 private suites, 1,000 Arena Builder seats (commonly referred to as "club seats"), a club level concourse, team locker rooms, and athletics training facilities. The entire facility is approximately 48 acres.

The Save Mart Center has already hosted four major sporting events. In March 2004, the facility served as the host site for the McCaffrey WAC Basketball Tournament. The following year, the Save Mart Center was the home for the first and second rounds of the 2005 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament.

In 2007 and 2012, Fresno State was one of four schools that hosted a NCAA Women's Basketball Championship Regional, which includes the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight rounds, as March Madness returned to the Save Mart Center.

The Save Mart Center will continue to host the Fresno State teams starting with women's volleyball this Thursday against CSU Bakersfield and Friday against UNLV as they battle for first place in the Mountain West Conference.

Men and women's basketball is getting ready for the upcoming season starting on Oct. 23 at 6:30 p.m. as the men and women host their annual Red & White Hoops Night. The free event will showcase 3-point shooting and dunk contests. It is a chance for the Red Wave to meet and interact with their favorite student-athletes and coaches.
