Wyoming Basketball Plays Host To Idaho In Season Opener

The Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team will begin the 2012-13 regular season at home this week. They will host the Idaho Vandals, on Friday, Nov. 9. The game is set for 7:00 p.m. in the Arena Auditorium. Live stats and audio can be found at www.gowyo.com.
The Cowgirls went 2-0 during the exhibition season after a 78-53 victory over the Dakota Wesleyan Tigers and a 31-point victory, 76-45, over Regis on Monday night. Two Cowgirls finished the night in double-figures led by senior Ashley Sickles. She scored a game high 17 points, while shooting 7-14 from the field in 23 minutes of play. Alison Gorrell added ten points, while Chaundra Sewell finished with ten rebounds. Wyoming shot 29-73 (.397) from the field and 11-13 (.846) from the free throw line.
This is also the season opener for the Vandals who went 1-0 in exhibition play with a 93-62 win over Western Oregon. They return three starters and six letterwinnners who went 12-20 overall and 6-8 in the Western Athletic Conference.
This is the eighth meeting between the two teams. Wyoming leads the short series 4-3. The last time the two teams met was December 18, 2011 as the Vandals defeated Wyoming 65-59 in Moscow. Idaho is coached by Jon Newlee who is in his fifth season with the program.
