SDSU Women's Hoops Set To Face UC Irvine In Home Opener
Nov. 13, 2012
SAN DIEGO -
After opening its season on the road, San Diego State returns to Viejas Arena for its home opener. The Aztecs will take on UC Irvine after claiming a victory against the Anteaters last season. SDSU took the 76-57 decision on Dec. 16, 2011, when the two teams met up at Bren Events Center in Irvine. UC Irvine is the first of two Big West members that the Aztecs will face during this season's non-conference stretch.
The Aztecs are coming off a road loss at UCLA that saw Erimma Amarikwa lead San Diego State with 14 points. Redshirt freshman Deajanae Scurry saw her first start at UCLA. The Los Angeles, Calif., native posted eight points and nine rebounds in her Aztec debut. Senior Chelsea Hopkins added 10 points, six rebounds, six assists and four steals vs. UCLA.
An SDSU victory over UC Irvine will mean:
- SDSU improves to 19-6 all-time against the Anteaters, winning 11 of the last 13 meetings.
- SDSU moves to 9-4 in games played in San Diego.
- SDSU moves to 1-1 against teams it also faced last season.
- SDSU improves to 86-76 all-time vs. teams out of the Big West Conference.
