WBB Plays Host to CS Dominguez Hills in Sunday Showdown

San Diego State takes to the hardwood once again after defeating UC Irvine, 63-53, at Viejas Arena in the home season opener. The Aztecs and Cal State Dominguez Hills are meeting for the second time ever. SDSU took the 71-33 decision on Feb. 25, 1979, when the two teams met at Peterson Gym in San Diego.

Beth Burns is in the midst of the 21st season of her head coaching career and 16th overall at the helm of the Aztecs. Burns is in her eighth season of her second stint on The Mesa. SDSU is still receiving votes in the AP top-25 poll. The 13 votes are the 35th most in the country. San Diego State has been picked to repeat as Mountain West champions in 2012-13. The Aztecs received 22 of 24 first-place votes and earned 198 points to claim the top spot in the preseason poll.

SDSU is coming off a win at home against UCI on Wednesday that saw Erimma Amarikwa post her first career double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. The win also marked head coach Beth Burns' 350th career victory. Seniors Courtney Clements and Chelsea Hopkins both made a mark for San Diego State, scoring 13 and 10 points, respectively. Both also notched six rebounds apiece in the win.
