Cowgirl Basketball Continues Road Swing With Contest Against Colorado

The Wyoming Cowgirl Basketball team will play their third straight road contest against the Colorado Buffaloes, on Wednesday, Nov. 28. The game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Boulder. Live audio can be found at www.gowyo.com.
Wyoming is 4-0 on the season after coming away with two victories over Seton Hall and Pepperdine at the Pepperdine Thanksgiving Classic. Against the Waves, the Cowgirls were led by sophomore Kaitlyn Mileto who had a career night with 25 points and seven rebounds. She was 10-16 (.625) from the field and a perfect 5-5 (1.00) from beyond the arc. Ashley Sickles followed with 11 points and six rebounds, while two other players, Chaundra Sewell and Kayla Woodward, each added nine points. Wyoming was 24-48 (.500) from the field and 7-13 (.538) from beyond the arc. They also out rebounded the Waves 50-23 and held them to 28.6 percent (18-63) shooting percentage. Three Cowgirls finished the night in double-figures led by sophomore guard Chelan Landry. She finished with a career high 13 points and five rebounds in her 21 minutes off the bench, while shooting 3-5 from the field and 7-8 from the free throw line. Kayla Woodward recorded her first double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds followed by Chaundra Sewell with 11 points and eight boards. Wyoming shot 15-45 (.333) from the field, 23-33 (.697) from the charity stripe and out rebounded the Pirates, 48-44.
The Cowgirls are led by sophomore Kayla Woodward who is averaging 13.8 points plus 6.0 rebounds per game. Chaundra Sewell follows with 13.0 points and a team high 8.0 rebounds. Four of five starters are currently averaging double-figures in scoring. As a team, they are shooting 99-203 (.488) from the field and 24-59 (.407) from beyond the arc.
CU is also a perfect 4-0 heading into this contest having defeated San Diego State, 67-53, last time out. They are led by Arielle Roberson who is averaging a team high 18 points and 6.8 rebounds. Chucky Jeffery follows with 10.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per contest. They return four starters and nine letterwinners to a team that went 21-14 and 6-12 in the Pac-12 Conference.
This will be the 46th meeting between the two schools. CU leads the series 34-11. The last time the two teams met was March 24, 2011 as the Buffs defeated the Cowgirls 70-58 in the WNIT. Colorado is coached by Linda Lappe who is in her third season with the program.
