Cowgirl Basketball Returns Home To Host Eastern Michigan

After a two-week stretch on the road, the Wyoming Cowgirl Basketball team will return home to close out the week. They will host the Eastern Michigan Eagles, on Saturday, Dec. 1. The game is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in the Arena Auditorium. Live stats and audio can be found at www.gowyo.com.
Wyoming is 4-1 on the season after suffering their first loss on Wednesday night against the Colorado Buffaloes, 68-59. Three Cowgirls finished the night in double-figures led by sophomore Kaitlyn Mileto. She recorded 16 points while shooting 6-12 from the field. Ashley Sickles followed with 14 points, while Kayla Woodward chipped in 10. Chaundra Sewell finished her night with a season high 14 boards to lead the team. Wyoming was 21-60 from the field and 10-12 (.833) from the free throw line. Unfortunately, they would commit 18 turnovers which resulted in 27 points for the Buffs.
The Cowgirls are led by sophomore Woodward who is averaging 13.0 points plus 5.8 rebounds per game. Sickles follows with 12.4 points and 5.2 rebounds. Sewell and Mileto are adding 12.2 points and Sewell is recording a team high 9.2 rebounds. Four of five starters are currently averaging double-figures in scoring. As a team, they are shooting 120-263 (.456) from the field and 31-76 (.408) from beyond the arc.
The Eagles are currently 1-5 overall this season after a 65-59 loss against Butler on Wednesday night. They are led by Miranda Tate with 14.2 points plus 3.8 rebounds. Natachia Watkins follows with 10.5 points and 4.7 boards. They return three starters and nine letterwinners to a team that went 23-9 overall and 13-3 in the Mid-American Conference.
This will be the second meeting between the two schools. Eastern Michigan defeated the Cowgirls 65-43 in the only meeting between the two schools on Jan. 2, 2012. The Eagles are coached by Tory Verdi who is in his first year with the program.
