Women's Hoops Heads North for Sunday Tilt at Cal Poly

SAN DIEGO - After an eight-day hiatus for final exams, the San Diego State women's basketball team travels to the central coast to face Cal Poly on Sunday, Dec. 16. Tip off is set for 2 p.m. PT.
The Mustangs are the second Big West school the Aztecs (5-3) will face in their non-league schedule after dispatching UC Irvine by a 63-53 count at home on Nov. 14.
Sunday's clash will also mark SDSU's first visit to San Luis Obispo since 2007, when the Scarlet and Black came away with an 80-70 triumph.

SDSU Head Coach Beth Burns: Burns (Ohio Wesleyan, 1979) is in the eighth year of her second stint as head coach at San Diego State. She led the Aztecs for eight seasons from 1989 to 1997, before returning in 2005. She has an overall head coaching record of 354-247 in 21 seasons, and she is 273-182 in her 16 campaigns at SDSU.
Cal Poly Head Coach Faith Mimnaugh: Mimnaugh (Loyola-Chicago, 1985) is in her 16th season at the helm of the Mustangs and has compiled a school record of 200-238. Her overall head coaching record stands at 207-300 in 18 campaigns. In 2010-11, Mimnaugh won her second Big West Conference Coach of the Year award after leading Cal Poly to an 18-13 record and a 12-4 mark in league play, capped by an appearance in the WNIT.
Series History: The Aztecs and Mustangs are meeting for the 11th time overall. SDSU won its eighth straight in the series last year at Viejas Arena by the score of 79-78 to grab an 8-2 advantage all-time. The Aztecs' eight consecutive victories vs. Cal Poly mark the longest active winning streak against any opponent.
