Women's Hoops Returns Home for Mid-Week Clash vs. Fresno Pacific

After facing three consecutive opponents on the road, the San Diego State women's basketball team opens a season-long five-game homestand on Wednesday when it tackles Fresno Pacific, starting at 5 p.m. The Aztecs are coming off a 73-56 victory at Cal Poly on Sunday to move to 6-3 on the season.

-SDSU Head Coach Beth Burns: Burns (Ohio Wesleyan, 1979) is in the eighth year of her second stint as head coach at San Diego State. She led the Aztecs for eight seasons from 1989 to 1997, before returning in 2005. She has an overall head coaching record of 355-247 in 21 seasons, and she is 274-182 in her 16 campaigns at SDSU.
-Fresno Pacific Head Coach Erin Scholz: Scholz (Colorado, 1999) is in her third season at the helm of the Sunbirds and has amassed a record of 22-48. Prior to her appointment at FPU, Scholz served a three-year stint as an assistant at Utah State.
-Series History: The Aztecs and Sunbirds are meeting for the first time.
-Up Next: SDSU will have nine days off before playing host to the eighth annual San Diego Surf `N Slam Classic at Viejas Arena. The Aztecs will square off against SMU on Friday, Dec. 28, starting at 5 p.m., while the other first-round matchup tips off at 7 p.m., featuring nationally ranked Oklahoma State and Harvard. On Sunday, Dec. 30, the consolation game gets underway at 12 noon, followed by the championship final at 2 p.m.
