De Roey, Stevens record Top-10 Finishes at Stanford

UNM juniors Manon De Roey and Sammi Stevens tied for 10th place at the Peg Barnard Invitational at Stanford, Calif. De Roey and Stevens finished at 146 (4 over) at the Stanford Golf Course.

De Roey (74-72) was steady today with two birdies and three bogeys on her way to a 1-over 72. Stevens (70-76) shot 76 in the final round, bogeying three of the final seven holes.

Stanford freshman Mariah Stackhouse shot a course-record 61 to win the individual title by 10 shots over San Jose State's Regina DeGuzman. Stackhouse needed just 26 shots to play the front nine in 9 under, carding five birdies and two eagles. She finished at 12-under 130.

As a team, UNM finished 11th in the 13-team field at 615 (302-313, 47 over). Led by Stackhouse, Stanford (569) won the team championship by 14 strokes over California.

UNM senior Beth Buchner tied for 54th at 156 (78-81). Junior Sofia Hoglund suffered a quadruple bogey on her final hole to finish with an 84 and two-round total of 164, good for 64th place. Freshman Ira Knopf finished 69th at 172 (83-89).
