– The UNLV women’s golf team kicked off the spring season at home at the UNLV Spring Invitational, wrapping up day one action in second place and just three strokes off the lead.

Arizona enters Tuesday’s final round at 7-over and three strokes ahead of UNLV. San Diego State (+26) is in third with Louisville (+27) and New Mexico (+36) rounding out the top five.

Three Rebel players enter the final round within two shots of leader Nikki Koller (Arizona), who stands at 1-over par after Monday’s 36-hole marathon.

Dana Finkelstein carded four birdies in the morning round, turning in an even-par 72. After playing one over on both the front and back nine to shoot a second-round 74, Finkelstein enters the final round tied with teammate Mayko Chwen Wang just one shot off the lead.

Wang played the front nine at even par both rounds Monday and tallied nine birdies overall to go 73, 73 and +2 on the day.

Junior transfer Charlotte Brooks turned in the low score for round one at 2-under par. After an even par front nine, Brooks birdied the 15th and 17th to take the lead heading into the afternoon round. A 77 in the second round dropped her to 3-over for the tournament, but still just two shots off the lead.

Sophomore Katerina Prorokova enters the final round in a tie for fourth with Brooks after shooting a 75, 72. Prorokova made four birdies on the day, all coming on the front nine.

Junior Ellis Keenan rounds out UNLV’s starting five in a tie for 37th overall after carding rounds of 80 and 78 respectively. Senior Bethany Calvo totaled seven birdies on the day, including three over the last seven holes in the second round and sits at 6-over and tied for 17th.

Marguerite Swearingen (+18, 162) and Hee Jeong Lim (+21, 165) round out the individuals for UNLV.

Tuesday’s final round will begin at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start from Cascata Golf Club.
