Rebels Sit 11th After First Day

TARZANA, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's golf team sits in 11th place after the first day of the Bruin Wave Invitational, which is being played at the El Caballero Country Club (par 72, 6,131 yards) in Tarzana, Calif. The Rebels played 36 holes and turned in a score of 60-over-par 636 (314-322) on Monday.

Co-Host UCLA leads the field at 7-over 583 (297-286). USC sits second, eight strokes back at 15-over and Arizona is third at 23-over. Pepperdine and Oklahoma State round out the top-five at 35-over and 40-over, respectively.

UCLA’s Lee Lopez leads all individuals, and was the only golfer to shoot below par after two rounds. She sits at 2-undr 142 (72-70), two strokes ahead of USC’s Annie Park. Park turned in a score of an even-par 144 (68-76). Pepperdine’s Marissa Chow and UCLA’s Louise Ridderstorm are tied for third at 1-over 145.

Junior Charlotte Brooks and sophomore Dana Finkelstein lead UNLV and are tied for 36th at 14-over 158.

Other Rebels competing: sophomores Mayko Chwen Wang and Marguerite Swearingen are tied for 47th at 17-over 161. Junior Demi Mak sits tied for 59th at 20-over 164.

The tournament features 15 teams and 81 individuals. Tuesday's second and final round will begin with tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. PT. The Rebels will start on the back nine, with Mak teeing off at 7:30. Live scoring is available off a link at UNLVRebels.com, courtesy of Golfstat.
