Lobos Finish 8th at Bruin Wave Invitational

Final Results

The University of New Mexico women's golf team finished in eighth place at the Bruin Wave Invitational at the El Caballero Country Club (par 72) in Tarzana, Calif.

The Lobos finished the 54-hole tournament at 78-over 942 (299-324-319). Co-host Pepperdine (903) nipped fellow co-host UCLA (905) by two shots to take the title in the 15-team field.

New Mexico started the final round in seventh place, and moved as high as fifth during the front nine. But, after covering the first nine holes in 10-over, the Lobos dropped 21 shots on the back to fall into eighth, one shot behind Oregon State.

Playing in cool and windy conditions, the average score today was a lofty 81.47.

Senior Sarah Salvo, playing in just her fourth competition of the season, was the Lobos' top finisher. She placed 22nd at 233 (73-83-77).

Senior Rebecca Hellbom was a shot back at 234 (75-79-80), tying for 23rd.

Sophomore Manon De Roey tied for 31st at 235 (74-83-78). Sophomore Sammi Stevens tied for 50th at 244 (77-83-84) while sophomore Sofia Hoglund ended at 247 (84-79-84) and in a tie for 58th.

San Diego State's Christine Wong won the individual title at 3-over 219 (68-73-78).

The Lobos' are off until March 18 when they travel to San Diego for the Battle at Rancho Bernardo.
