Rebels Finish Fourth at Bruin/Wave Invitational

TARZANA, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women’s golf team wrapped up action at the Third Annual Bruin/Wave Invitational with a fourth-place finish today, turning in the second-lowest team round on the day at +23, 311.
Pepperdine held on to take the team title by two strokes over co-host UCLA, finishing at +39 for the event. Oklahoma State (+47) was third while Mountain West rival San Diego State rounded out the top five at +62.
Sophomore Charlotte Brooks carded a 6-over 78 to finish at +9 and in fifth place. The finish marked Brooks’ second top-10 finish of the year and third top 20 performance.
Christine Wang (San Diego State) held on for medalist honors, turning in a +3, 219 for the tournament. Waves teammates Alina Ching and Grace Na took second and third respectively, carding a +7 and +8. Erynne Lee (UCLA) tied Na for third after a final round 76.
Freshman Mayko Chwen Wang climbed eight spots up the leader board to finish tied for 11th after a final round 75, the second-lowest score of the day. Classmate Dana Finkelstein finished the tournament at +15 and in 16th place to give UNLV three players in the top 20.
Bethany Calvo (+20, T34th) and Katerina Prorokova (+26, T44th) rounded out the Rebels’ starting five. Freshman Marguerite Swearingen turned in a 79 for the second straight day to finish in 39th as an individual.
UNLV will be off until March 18th when they travel to San Diego, Calif. for the Battle at Rancho Bernardo.
