Women's Golf Finishes First-Day Action in Florida

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The San Diego State women's golf team completed first-day action at the SunTrust Gator Women's Invitational on Friday in Gainesville, Fla. The Aztecs shot a 32-over 312 over the course of 18 holes to finish in 15th place heading into Saturday's second round.

Paige Spiranac led SDSU as she shot a 4-over 74 on the par-70, 6,002-yard Mark Bostick Golf Course. With her effort, the sophomore finds herself in a 29th-place tie.

Nineteen places down, but only three shots back of Spiranac, is Emma Henrikson. The freshman from Sweden logged a 7-over 77, while Rebecca Schneider shot an 80 to end the day in a tie for 65th place.

Christine Wong and Kristina Lynn rounded out the Aztec fivesome with scores of 81 (+11) and 87 (+16) to finish in a tie for 71st and 77th, respectively.

San Diego State tees off on Saturday at 9:45 a.m. ET to start its second round. The Aztecs will be grouped with Kent State and South Florida, and will begin on the 10th hole.
