Rebels Finish Eighth in San Diego

Final Results

– The UNLV women’s golf team wrapped up action at the second annual Battle at Rancho Bernardo, hosted by San Diego State University at the Rancho Bernardo Inn Championship Golf Course.

UNLV shot a final round +18, 306 to finish in eighth place in the 16-team field. Southern Cal took home the team title by a two-stroke margin over Arizona State with a 14-over total in the 36-hole event. Texas A&M was third while California took fourth and Pepperdine and Tulane shared fifth.

Freshman Mayko Chwen Wang turned in a career-best finish in a tie for fourth after shooting a 2-over par 74 in the final round. It marks Wang’s fourth top-20 and second top-5 finish this season for UNLV.

Classmate Dana Finkelstein finished tied for 22nd after a final round 77 while Bethany Calvo and Katerina Prorokova both finished the two-day event at +12 and tied for 51st overall.

Ellis Keenan rounded out the Rebel lineup with an 84 in the closing round.

UNLV will travel to Tempe, Ariz. for the Ping/ASU Invitational March 31-April 1st, marking the final regular-season tournament before the 2012 Mountain West Championship in late April.
