Women's golf recap: CSU 15th after Day 1 in Tucson

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Colorado State women's golf team is 15th after the first two rounds on Friday of the MountainView Collegiate at MountainView Golf Club. Sudden illness has hampered the team thus far in the competition.
"Jessa woke up with stomach flu and couldn't play," commented Head Coach Angie Collier. "Bri is sick and fighting through it and Betsy is on the verge of being sick."
Brianna Espinoza was able to battle through her illness into a tie for 25th with a 73-74--147 (+3). Cecilie Krefting shot a 75-81--156. Betsy Kelly carded a 77-81--158 and Sarah Roering finished with a 79-83--162. Christina Spinzig shot a 77-77--154 as an individual. Jessa LaBarbera was forced to withdraw before the first round due to illness.
Texas Tech leads the team competition at 6 under (570), followed by Indiana (E) and Iowa State (+5). CSU finished the day at 623 (+47).
Jennifer Brumbagh of San Jose State leads the individual competition at 8 under. Gabriella Dominquez of Texas Tech, Rosie Davies of Indiana and Lauren Weaver of Northwestern are tied for second at 4 under. Stephanie Neisen (-3) of Nebraska rounds out the top five.
The final round begins at 8:30 a.m. MST on Saturday.
