Rebels Tied For Seventh After Day Two

TEMPE, Ariz. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women’s golf wrapped up second-round action at the par-71 Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Ariz. with a +11, 295 team score, leaving them in a tie for seventh place heading into tomorrow’s final round.

No. 1 UCLA leads the field and is the only team under par heading in to the final round at 3-under. No. 31 Texas and No. 13 Texas A&M are nine shots off the lead at 6-over while No. 5 Arizona State and No. 26 UC Davis are tied for fourth at +10. No. 8 LSU is in sixth at +11 with UNLV and No. 39 Stanford are tied for seventh at 14-over par.

Tiffany Lua (UCLA) holds a one-shot lead over Demi Runas (UC Davis) at 5-under par. Sally Watson (Stanford) is in third at 3-under while Ani Gulugian (UCLA), Marissa Mar (Stanford), Bertine Strauss (Texas) and Kelsey Vines (Oklahoma State) are all tied for fourth at 1-under.

Dana Finkelstein turned in the low round of the day for UNLV, shooting an even-par 71 with three birdies to stand in a tie for 48th after two rounds.

Bethany Calvo is tied for 15th after a second round 77, playing 3-over par on both the front and back nine with three birdies on the day.

Sophomore Charlotte Brooks moved one spot up the leader board following a 1-over 72 in the second round. Brooks played the front nine at even par before bogeying the 10th and 12th to drop to 2-over for the round. A birdie at the par-4 15th was followed by three consecutive pars.

Katerina Prorokova carded a 4-over 75 while Mayko Chwen Wang shot a 7-over 78 to round out the Rebel lineup.

UNLV will start action in the final round at 7:30 a.m. at the Karsten Golf Course.
