The University of New Mexico women's golf team is tied for 11th place after the first round of The Farms Invitational in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.

The Lobos shot a 29-over 317 on the challenging Farms Golf Club (par 72, 6,202 yards), tied with Long Beach State.

No. 1 ranked Southern California leads the 15-team field at 10-over 298. UNLV is second, four shots back at 302.

UNM juniors Sammi Stevens and Manon De Roey paced UNM with rounds of 78. Junior Sofia Hoglund had a 79 while senior Beth Buchner ended with an 82. Freshman Xenia Knopf shot an 84.

Northwestern's Hana Lee was the only golfer in the 84-player field to break par in the first round, carding a 70 (2-under).

Second round action begins Monday at 9 a.m. Mountain Time.
