Rebels Sit Second After Day One

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's golf team sits in second place after the first day of The SDSU Farms Invitational, which is being played at The Farms Golf Club (par 72, 6,202 yards). The Rebels turned in a score of 14-over-par 298 on Sunday.

USC leads the field at 10-over 298. Texas and Pepperdine are tied for third, one stroke behind UNLV, at 15-over 303. Northwestern rounds out the top-five at 17-over 305. 

Northwestern’s Hana Lee leads all individuals, and was the only golfer to shoot below par after the first round. She sits at 2-under 70, two strokes ahead of Arizona’s Manon Gidali and USC’s Kyung Kim who turned in scores of an even-par 72.

Sophomore Mayko Chwen Wang leads UNLV and is tied for eighth at 2-over 74 after the first round.

Other Rebels competing: junior Charlotte Brooks is tied for 13th at 3-over 75. Sophomore Dana Finkelstein is tied for 19th at 4-over 76. Sophomore Marguerite Swearingen and junior Demi Mak are tied for 25th at 5-over 77. Katerina Prorokova is competing as an individual and is tied for 72nd at 13-over 85.

The tournament features 15 teams and 82 individuals. Monday’s second round will begin with tee times starting at 9:30 a.m. PT. Live scoring is available off a link at UNLVRebels.com, courtesy of Golfstat.
