Rebels Remain Second After Second Round

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's golf team is still in second place after the second day of The SDSU Farms Invitational, which is being played at The Farms Golf Club (par 72, 6,202 yards). The Rebels turned in a score of 10-over-par 298 on Monday and sit at 24-over 600 (302-298) in the tournament.
USC continues to lead the field at 11-over 587 (298-289) after a shooting 1-over as a team on Monday. Arizona and Pepperdine are tied for third, four strokes behind UNLV, at 28-over 604. Texas rounds out the top-five at 33-over 609.
USC’s Sophia Popov leads all individuals after shooting a 3-under 69 in the second round. She moved from eighth to first and is the only golfer below par in the tournament at 1-under 143 (74-69). Two shots back is Northwestern’s Kaitlin Park at 1-over 145 (73-72) and Pepperdine’s Liv Cheng sits third at 2-over 146 (73-73).
Sophomore Dana Finkelstein came into the second round tied for 19th, but now leads the Rebels and is tied for ninth at 5-over 149 (76-73) after shooting a second round 1-over 73.
Other Rebels competing: junior Charlotte Brooks (75-75) and sophomore Mayko Chwen Wang (74-76) are tied for 12th at 6-over 150. Junior Demi Mak is tied for 18th at 7-over 151 (77-74) and sophomore Marguerite Swearingen is tied for 33rd at 11-over 155 (77-78). Katerina Prorokova is competing as an individual and is tied for 68th at 23-over 167 (85-82).
The tournament features 15 teams and 82 individuals. Tuesday’s third and final round will begin with tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. PT. The Rebels are set to tee off at 9:00 a.m. Live scoring is available off a link at UNLVRebels.com, courtesy of Golfstat.
