Rebels Finish 15th In Arizona

TEMPE, Ariz. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's golf team finished 15th at the PING/ASU Invitational, which was being played at the ASU Karsten Golf Course (par 72, 6,223). The Rebels turned in a final round score of 19-over-par 307 on Sunday and finished 50-over 914 (305-302-307) for the tournament.
Alabama took home the tournament championship after posting a 11-under final round. The Crimson Tide finished the tournament 19-under 845 (284-284-277). Duke finished second, nine shots back at 10-under 854 (280-283-291). Arizona (288-284-290) and Stanford (289-282-291) finished tied for third at 2-under 862
Alabama's Emma Talley took home medalist honors, turning in a score of 9-under 207 (68-69-70). UCLA's Erynne Lee (69-74-66) finished tied for second after turning in a final round 6-under 66, which was the lowest score in the tournament. She tied with UC Davis's Demi Runas (71-68-70) at 7-under 209.
UNLV sophomore Dana Finkelstein led the Rebels, turning in a final round of 1-under 71 to finish the tournament tied for 38th at 4-over 220 (75-74-71).
Other Rebels competing: juniors Demi Mak finished 54th at 8-over 224 (72-72-80) and Katerina Prorokova finished 80th at 22-over 238 (76-83-79). Sophomores Mayko Chwen Wang (83-78-78) and Marguerite Swearingen (82-78-79) finished tied for 81st at 23-over 239.
The tournament featured 17 teams and 88 individuals.
The Rebels will have a week off before they travel to Palm Desert, Calif. for the Mountain West Championship tournament which will be played on April 25-27. Live stats will be provided courtesy of Golfstat on UNLVRebels.com.
