Rebels Move Up To 16th After Second Round

STANFORD, Calif. ( - The UNLV women's golf team shot an second-round 12-over-par 296 on Thursday and sits in 16th place at the 2013 NCAA West Regional, which is being played at the Stanford Golf Course (par 71, 6,267 yards). The Rebels are 38-over 606 (310-296) in the tournament after 36 holes.

Purdue jumped from third to first after a 2-over 286 second round score. The Boilermakers are 9-over 577 (291-286) and lead by one stroke over Vanderbilt. Southern California is in third at 11-over while South Carolina and Stanford round out the top-5 at 13-over and 17-over, respectively.

USC’s Annie Park continues to be the individual leader at 4-under 67. She shot a second round even-par 71 and leads Oregon’s Cassy Isagaw by one shot. Purdue’s Paula Rento sits third at 2-under 140 (71-69).

UNLV sophomore Dana Finkelstein leads the Rebels after carding a second round score of even-par 71. The Mountain West Golfer of the Year is tied for 24th at 4-over 146 (75-71) after 36 holes.

Other Rebel players: junior Demi Mak is tied for 31st at 5-over 147 (73-74), sophomore Mayko Chwen Wang is tied for 89th at 15-over 157 (82-75), sophomore Marguerite Swearingen is tied for 101st at 16-over 158 (82-76) and junior Katerina Prorokova is tied for 107th at 17-over 159 (80-79).

The NCAA West Regional features 24 teams and 126 individuals. The top eight teams and two individuals not on those teams will advance to the national finals, which will be held at Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga., May 21-24.
