Rebels Finish One Shot Back In Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's golf team shot 7-over-par 299 during Tuesday's final round and finished in a three-way tie for second place, just one shot back, at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational, which was played at the UNM Championship Course (par 72, 6,192 yards).

Iowa State's 3-over 295 during the final round gave the Cyclones a one-shot victory at 10-over 886. The Rebels tied with UC Davis and Ohio State at 11-over, while Northwestern rounded out the top five at 17-over.

Colorado's Jennifer Coleman used a 5-under 68 on Tuesday to run away with the individual title at 11-under 208, recording an eight-shot victory. Ohio State's Rachel Rohanna finished second at 3-under 216.

UNLV was led by junior Charlotte Brooks and sophomore Dana Finkelstein, who both tied for 13th at 2-over 221. Finkelstein shot a final-round even-par 73, while Brooks was 3-over 76 on Tuesday.

Other Rebels: sophomore Mayko Chwen Wang finished tied for 21st at 4-over 223 after a final-round 6-over 79, junior Demi Mak tied for 28th at 6-over 225 after a final-round 1-over 74, freshman Anna-Lena Kramer, who competed as an individual, tied for 43rd at 12-over 231 after a final-round 4-over 77, and sophomore Marguerite Swearingen tied for 49th at 13-over 232 after a final-round 3-over 76.

The tournament featured 17 teams and 93 individuals.

UNLV will be back in action Oct. 8-10, at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational in Seattle, Wash.
