Rebels Finish Sixth In Washington

SAMMAMISH, Wash. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women’s golf team shot a final-round 30-over-par 318 on Tuesday and finished sixth at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational, which was played at the Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash. (par 72, 6,054 yards).
The Rebels finished the tournament with a 54-hole total of 63-over 927. Washington ran away with the team title, winning by 14 strokes, as the Huskies finished at 22-over 886. They shot a final-round 12-over 300 on Tuesday. UC Davis came in second at 36-over 900, Stanford finished third at 41-over 905 and UC Irvine and Oregon tied for fourth at 54-over 918.
Washington's SooBin Kim, who was competing as an individual, won medalist honors after posting a tournament record score of 11-under 205 after a final-round 5-under 67. UC Irvine’s Michelle Park, Washington’s Charlotte Thomas and Stanford’s Sally Watson all finished 12 back at 1-over 217. Oregon’s Cassy Isagawa rounded out the top five, finishing 14 back at 3-over 219.
The Rebels were led by sophomore Dana Finkelstein, who finished tied for 13th at 11-over 227 after a final-round 6-over 78. Junior Demi Mak finished tied for 22nd at 15-over 231 after a final-round 9-over 81.
Other Rebels: sophomore Mayko Chwen Wang tied for 28th at 18-over 234 after a final-round 8-over 80, freshman Anna Lena Kraemer tied for 45th at 22-over 238 after a final-round 10-over 82 and sophomore Marguerite Swearingen finished tied for 50th at 25-over 241 after a final-round 7-over 79.
The tournament featured 16 teams and three individuals.
The Rebels will return to action on Oct. 21-23, as they return home to host the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown at Stallion Mountain Golf Club.
