Tough Day for Lobos in Round One

The UNM women's golfers would like a mulligan. The Lobos are tied for 17th place after the first round of Susie Maxwell Berning Classic in Norman, Okla.
New Mexico and Tulsa shot 310 at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club (par 72, 6,327 yards) and share the bottom spot in the 18-team field. UNM finished fifth at this tournament a year ago.
Host Oklahoma was the only team to shoot under par in the opening round today, carding a 4-under 284.
Junior Manon De Roey suffered consecutive double bogeys at 16 and 17 that led to a 42 on the back and a round of 79 (37-42), her worst score of the young season. De Roey entered the tournament fifth in the nation with a scoring average of 71.17.
The individual lead is shared by Denver's Tonje Daffinrud, Texas Tech's Kimberly Kaufman and Lindsey Weaver from Notre Dame at 68 (-4).
