UNLV Women's Golf Sits Sixth After Day Two

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women’s golf team is tied for sixth place after the second day of play at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, which is being played at the Stallion Mountain Golf Club (par 72, 6,230). The host Rebels turned in a score of 17-over on Monday, which puts them at 31-over 607 through 36 holes.

UCF jumped from seventh to first after shooting a 5-over 293 on Monday. The Knights are 20-over through 36 holes and hold a two-stroke lead over Penn State. Indiana sits in third at 23-over, while Wisconsin and Minnesota are tied for fourth at 28-over.

Penn State’s Christina Vosters came into the day in seventh, but now leads all individuals after shooting a 1-under 71 in round two and is even 144 through two rounds. Mississippi State’s Ally McDonald held steady to stay in second place, shooting a 2-over 74 in the second round, and is one stroke back at 1-over. First day leader Indiana’s Elizabeth Tong fell to third overall and is two strokes back at 2-over after shooting a 4-over 76 on Monday.

UNLV sophomore Dana Finkelstein sits in eighth after posting a 3-over 75 for the day. She paces the Rebels at 4-over 148 for the tournament. Despite dropping one spot in the tournament standings, Finkelstein is still is only four shots off the lead.

Other Rebels competing: Sophomore Mayko Chwen Wang is tied for 21st at 8-over 152 (77-75), junior Charlotte Brooks is tied for 36th at 10-over 154 (78-76), sophomore Marguerite Swearingen is tied for 41st at 11-over 155 (74-81) and junior Demi Mak is tied for 57th at 14-over 158 (79-79) through 36 holes.

Three Rebels are playing as individuals: Freshman Anna Lena Kraemer is tied for 28th at 9-over 153 (75-78), sophomore Katerina Prorokova is tied for 36th at 10-over 154 (76-78) and senior Ellis Keenan is tied for 45th at 12-over 156 (74-82) through 36 holes.
