Rebels Sit Eighth After Second Round

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women’s golf team is in eighth place after the second day of the Betsey Rawls Longhorn Invitational, which is being played at the University of Texas Golf Club (par 72, 6,344 yards) in Austin, Texas. The Rebels matched their first round score of 10-over-par 298 to make them 20-over 596 through 36 holes.
Florida shot a tournament low 8-under and jumped from fourth to tie fellow Southeastern Conference member Alabama atop the team leader board. The two are tied at 3-under 573. Arizona State and Arkansas are tied at an even-par 576. Rounding out the top five are Texas and Tulsa at 10-over 586.
Florida’s Camilla Hedberg and Alabama’s Jennifer Kirby lead the field at 6-under 138 after two rounds. Hedberg shot a 5-under 67, while Kirby matched her first round 3-under 69. Alabama’s Stephanie Meadow is one shot back at 5-under 139 and Texas’s Bertine Strauss is at 4-under 140. Sitting tied for fifth place is Pepperdine’s Grace Na and Arkansas’s Gabriela Lopez at 3-under 141.
Dana Finkelstein is tied for 17th after a posting a 1-over 73 second round score. She is pacing the Rebels at 1-over 145 (72-73) for the tournament.
Other Rebels competing: Junior Demi Mak is tied for 19th at 2-over 146 (73-73), sophomores Marguerite Swearingen (77-77) and Mayko Chwen Wang (76-78) are tied for 57th at10-over 154 and freshman Anna Lena Kraemer (80-75) is tied for 62nd at 11-over 155.
