Rebels Finish 10th in Texas

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's golf team finished its fall schedule on Tuesday, finishing 10th at the Betsey Rawls Longhorn Invitational, which was played at the University of Texas Golf Club (par 72, 6,344 yards) in Austin, Texas. The Rebels shot a final round 14-over-par 302 and finished 34-over 898 for the tournament.

Florida and Alabama were tied at 1-under 863 at the end of the final round, but the Gators were named the champions after comparing fifth players' scores. Arkansas (even 864), Arizona State (5-over 869) and Tulsa (19-over 883) finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively.

Alabama's Jenifer Kirby and Florida's Camilla Hedberg also were tied at 8-under 208 at the end of the final round. Hedberg took individual honors after making par during a one-hole playoff while Kirby bogeyed. UCLA's Erynne Lee and Alabama's Stephanie Meadow tied for third, three stroke-back at 5-under 211.

Junior Demi Mak shot a final round 1-over 73 and finished tied for 15th to pace the Rebels. Sophomore Dana Finkelstein finished 19th, one shot behind her teammate.

Other Rebels competing: Freshman Anna Lena Kraemer finished 54th at 13-over 229 (80-75-74) and sophomores Mayko Chwen Wang and Marguerite Swearingen finished 67th and tied for 68th, respectively. Wang turned in a tournament score of 18-over 234 (76-78-80), while Swearingen turned in a score of 19-over 235 (77-77-81).

This concluded the Rebels' fall season. The team will return to action on February 25th in Pleasanton, Calif. in the Cal Invite.
