Horned Frogs Open Play In Puerto Rico

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico -- TCU seniors Brooke Beeler and Rachel Raastad carded 75s as the Horned Frogs are tied for seventh after Sunday's opening round of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.

Twelve of the 15 teams in the field are ranked in the top 50. The 33rd-ranked Horned Frogs' 305 is 11 strokes off the pace set by No. 10 LSU and No. 11 Georgia, who both shot a 294.

Beeler had three birdies in a five-hole stretch on the front nine. Raastad had two birdies on the day.

Sanna Nuutinen recorded three birdies en route to a 77 for TCU, while freshmen Alexandra Bonetti and Camry Tardy both came in with a 78.

Bonetti shot par on her opening nine holes. Tardy, playing in her first collegiate tournament, had her lone birdie on the final hole.

Georgia's Emilie Burger sits atop the leaderboard, tying a tournament low for the first round with a 6-under-par 66. She holds a five-stroke lead over four players at 71.

Monday's second round tee time for TCU is at 6 a.m. CST. The Horned Frogs will be paired with Iowa State, North Carolina State and Oklahoma State. Live scoring is available at www.Golfstat.com.
