FORT COLLINS, Colo. -The Colorado State women’s golf team will begin the spring season next week in Boulder City, Nev., at the 11-team UNLV Spring Invitational at Cascata Golf Course. The first round will begin on Monday with an 8 a.m. MST shotgun start, followed immediately by Round 2. The third and final round on Tuesday will also start at 8 a.m. MST.
Cascata Golf Course stretches 6,662 yards and will play as a par 72.
The 11 teams in competition are No. 40 San Diego State, BYU, UC Irvine, North Texas, No. 9 Arizona, Idaho, Louisville, No. 44 New Mexico, New Mexico State and UNLV, in addition to the Rams.
Rams at UNLV Spring Invitational...
The Rams will be returning to the UNLV Spring Invitational for the first time since 2008, when the tournament was held at Boulder Creek Golf Club. The team finished 13th out of 18 teams. The Rams will aim to improve in this year’s tournament at Cascata. None of the Rams making the trip this year played in 2008.
Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown...
After a strong fall season the Colorado State women stumbled a bit at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown in Las Vegas, Nev., in late October. The Rams finished last in the 16-team field.
The competition, which included six top-50 teams, proved to be a tough match for the Rams, who had two consecutive top-five finishes before the tournament.
Espinoza led the Rams at the Showdown, finishing tied for 31st in the 89-player field.
