TCU In Contention For Title At Central District Invitational

PARRISH, Fla. -- Sanna Nuutinen is tied for second individually to lead TCU into a second-place standing after Monday's opening two rounds of the Central District Invitational.
The Horned Frogs' 1-over-par 289 was the tournament's best score in second-round play. TCU lowered its score by eight shots from a first-round 297 earlier in the day. At 586, the 44th-ranked Horned Frogs trail No. 25 Oklahoma by just two strokes for the team lead. The Horned Frogs are ahead of three top-10 teams (No. 5 Vanderbilt, No. 6 North Carolina and No. 7 LSU).
Nuutinen, a sophomore from Helsinki, Finland, is at 1-under 143 after Monday's 36 holes. She's tied with Vanderbilt's Marina Alex, five shots behind Oklahoma's Chirapat Jao-Javanil who is at 6-under 138.
Nuutinen birdied four of her opening six holes, including three in a row in one stretch, en route to five birdies and a first-round 71. She also started strong in second-round play with birdies on her first two holes.
Beeler had three birdies in a four-hole stretch on the front nine of the second round.
McCoy, a freshman from Carrollton, Texas, birdied her first and last holes in second-round play en route to a 1-under 71.
With three birdies, Rachel Raastad carded a second-round 75 for the Horned Frogs.
TCU freshman Alexandra Bonetti is tied for 25th with a 7-over-151. She had a first-round 74.
