Women's Golf Finishes Fifth

PLEASANTON, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's golf team finished its first spring tournament on Tuesday. The Rebels recorded their fourth top-five finish of 2012-13, finishing fifth at the Cal Classic, which was being played at the Ruby Hill Golf Course (par 72, 6,203) in Pleasanton, Calif. UNLV shot a final round 13-over-par 301 and finished the two-day tournament at 27-over 603.
Sophomore Dana Finkelstein finished tied for second after shooting a final round 2-under 70 to finish at an even-par 144 for the tournament. It is Finkelstein's highest career finish and her fourth career top-five.
Stanford took the team title, shooting a final-round even-par to finish at 10-over 586. Arizona State finished second at 16-over 592 and San Diego State finished third at 21-over 597.
Arizona State's Noemi Jimenez took home medalist honors after finishing at 5-under 139 for the tournament. Tied with Finkelstein for second was UC Davis's Demi Runas and Stanford's Mariko Tumangan who finished with an even-par 144. Rounding out the top five was San Diego State's Paige Spiranic at 1-over 145.
UNLV junior Charlotte Brooks finished tied for 12th after a final round of 2-over 74 to finish the tournament at 4-over 148. Sophomore Mayko Chwen Wang finished tied for 22 after shooting a 4-over 76 to finish at 8-over 152. Junior Demi Mak shot a final round 9-over 81 and finished tied for 45th with a tournament score of 15-over 159. Sophomore Marguerite Swearingen rounded out the Rebels' squad finishing 55th after a final round of 9-over 81, giving her a tournament score of 19-over 163.
The tournament featured 11 teams and 60 individuals.
