Feb. 27, 2013
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - UNLV sophomore Dana Finkelstein has been selected Mountain West Women's Golfer of the Week for tournaments played Feb. 20 - 26.
In the first tournament of the spring, Finkelstein registered the highest individual finish of her career, tying for second place out of 60 golfers at the Cal Classic, held in Livermore, Calif., on Feb. 25-26. The Chandler, Ariz., native carded an even-par 144 (74-70) on the par-72, 6,304-yard Ruby Hills Golf Course. Finkelstein recorded seven birdies across the 36-hole tournament and shot a final round 2-under 70, which marked a season low and was the third-lowest round in the tournament. Her second-place tie marked Finkelstein's fourth career top-five finish.
As a team, UNLV posted its fourth top-five finish of the 2012-13 campaign, as the Rebels placed fifth among the field of 11 squads with a combined score of 27-over 603 (302-301).
Through 17 rounds, Finkelstein leads UNLV and ranks second in the Mountain West with a 73.94 stroke average. This marks the first career MW Golfer of the Week award for Finkelstein, who previously was named MW Golfer of the Month in February and in October 2012.
