Mountain West Announces Women's Golfer of the Month

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - UNLV freshman Dana Finkelstein has been selected Mountain West Women's Golfer of the Month for February.

Finkelstein opened the spring season with the best tournament finish of her career, placing third in the 60-golfer field at the UNLV Spring Invitational on Feb. 20-21. The freshman paced the Rebels with a 54-hole total of 4-over 220 (72-74-74) on the par 72, 6,272-yard Cascata Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev.

The product of Chandler, Ariz., recorded nine birdies during the tournament, including four apiece in each of the first and second rounds. She carded her second-lowest score of the year and notched her second top-10 finish and third top-15 finish.

As a team, UNLV picked up its highest finish of the season, coming in second place at 27-over 891 (290-296-305) behind No. 5 Arizona. The Rebels have placed inside the top-10 in five of their six tournaments this season.

In 15 rounds played this season, the freshman ranks 12th in the Mountain West in stroke average at 75.73. This marks the first career MW Golfer of the Month award for Finkelstein.
