Weather Wreaks Havoc At Darius Rucker Intercollegiate
March 3, 2012
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. -- Due to continual lightning in the area, second-round play Saturday for TCU women's golf at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate was postponed until Sunday.
The 34th-ranked Horned Frogs and the other 14 teams in the field played through rain the entire day and were midway through the second round when action was postponed. Second-round play will continue Sunday with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. CST. Due to travel considerations, there will not be a third and final round. The tournament will conclude after the second round is finished.
TCU is currently in 11th place overall at 29-over-par but just four shots out of a top-five position.
Horned Frog senior Brooke Beeler is fifth individually. The Butler, Ill., native had three birdies and was 1 over through 12 holes Saturday. Beeler is also 1 over for the tournament, seven strokes off the pace set by Alabama's Stephanie Meadow.
TCU freshman April McCoy was at 1 over Saturday after recording par on eight of her nine holes.
At 2 over for the tournament, No. 2 Alabama holds an eight-stroke lead over No. 10 North Carolina.
Live scoring of Sunday's continuation of second-round play is available at www.Golfstat.com.
