UNLV's Finkelstein Advances At U.S. Publinx Championship

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV women's golfer Dana Finkelstein has advanced to the round of 32 at the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship, which is being played at Neshanic Valley Golf Course in Neshanic Station, N.J.

Finkelstein tied for 13th among 156 golfers after two days of stroke play with a score of 1-under 143, to advance to match play along with 63 others. Finkelstein, from Chandler, Ariz., won her first match by four holes over Sarah Bae of Cary, N.C., and will play in the round of 32 against Allyssa Ferrell of Edgerton, Wis., on Thursday at 7:40 a.m. ET.

The round of 16 is also scheduled to be played on Thursday, with the quartefinals and semifinals slated for Friday. The final will be played Saturday.

Finkelstein completed her freshman year with the fourth-best scoring average in the Mountain West. She competed in 29 rounds for the Rebels with an average of 75.21 per round. Her low round during the season was a 70 and her best finish was third at the MW Championship. She was selected as the league's Co-Freshman of the Year along with teammate Mayko Chwen Wang.
