Five Lobos named to NGCA All-American Scholar Teams

July 6, 2012

The University of New Mexico placed five golfers on the 2012 National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) All-American Scholar Team for Division I. That's the most of any school in the Mountain West Conference. In all, 13 MW golfers were named to the team.

UNM senior Rebecca Hellbom earned the award for the fourth consecutive year. Junior Beth Buchner garnered the honor for the third time while sophomores Sofia Hoglund and Sammi Stevens are first-time honorees.

A total of 585 women's collegiate golfers from NCAA Divisions I, II and III were recognized by the NGCA. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team includes carrying a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average and competing in at least 50 percent of the institution's regularly-scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
